  • Studies: Bachelor Degree in Fine Arts
  • Credits: 6 ECTS
  • Year: Second year
  • Type: Basic Training
  • Subject code: GBF022

Description

The purpose of the Sociocultural Anthropology subject is to share with students conceptual and methodological tools whose purpose is to develop a kind of ethnographic sensitivity to learn to observe, investigate and inhabit worlds outside the frameworks of “the given”. Ethnographic sensitivity is understood as the “art of seeing things” in specific contexts and from different perspectives. The format of the seminar will be as an experimental laboratory and will be divided into 3 blocks organized thematically. In parallel, throughout the semester we will work through ethnographic experiments that will be carried out both inside and outside the classroom. These experiments are aimed at exploring, in different ways, our ways of looking.

Subject objectives

The general objective of the subject is to generate a laboratory for experimental and practical research of emerging ethnographies that fuse art, digital media, sensory ethnography and archives. The specific objectives are:

  • Promote critical reflection on fundamental epistemological and methodological aspects linked to the ethnography/art interweaving.
  • Promote the development of experimental research whose starting points are fiction and ethnography.
  • Generate a laboratory for reflection on ways of approaching human and non-human entities and records.

Learning outcomes

  • Ability of critical reflection in the processes linked to the professional practice
  • Integration of the gender and inclusiveness perspective when producing communication contents, in texts and audiovisual materials
