Activity and/or professional career

Raquel Buj is a fashion designer, teacher and architect. She is the founder and director of BUJ studio, an experimental fashion brand. She conceives her studio as a laboratory in which to experiment with the hybridization between fashion and architecture both conceptually and materially. She investigates with materials brought and reformulated from very diverse fields that she meticulously manipulates, combining craftsmanship and technology in the development of their pieces.

She combines her professional practice with her teaching practice, teaching classes at the URJC Degree in Fashion Design and Management and at the IED where she is also the program leader of the Master Fashion Futures: Smart Fabrics and Wearables. She, in turn, has given various workshops and talks at a national and international level, among which TEDxMadrid 19 and Retrofuturo stand out.

In her previous work at ZAP & BUJ together with Elena Zapico they received various awards and recognitions, among which the Samsung Ego Innovation Project award (2017) within the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Madrid stands out. The following year her joint work was shown at Samsung Ego Spring-Summer 2018 for the MBFWM, where they presented the Growing Landscapes collection. In 2018 and 2019 they were finalists for the Vogue Who's on next award and also received the mention for Research and Design at the Ibero-American Design Biennial BID 19 (2019). Currently, alone, she has been selected to present the Nidos collection at the MBFWM off, April 2021.
