Professional activity and/or experience

Recently named Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters by the French Ministry of Culture and selected as the best choreographer of the year by the prestigious German magazine Tanz, Marcos Morau trained in photography, movement, and theatre in Barcelona and New York. For more than ten years, Marcos has been at the helm of La Veronal as director, choreographer, and designer of sets, costumes, and lighting. His work has been shown at the best theatres and international festivals in more than 30 countries, building imaginary worlds and landscapes with a lucid look towards contemporaneity and interdisciplinarity with the rest of the arts. As the youngest National Dance Prize winner in Spain, Marcos Morau's language is a product of abstract movement and physical theatre where that features a hybridisation of the image, literature, theatre, and movement that engulf each other. Since this year, Marcos Morau has been an associate artist at the Berlin Staatsballet, where every year from 2024 he will unveil a new creation in one of the largest companies in Europe, linked to the Deutsche Oper, the Komische Oper, and the Staatsoper Unter den Linden.
