Presentation
Discover the risographic printing and bookbinding techniques that are essential in order to be able to develop publishing projects using these techniques.
Throughout the course we will experiment in the preparation of originals and the printing process through colour, patterns, textures, gradients, and composition, as well as the use of different types of paper.
The final result will be three bound pieces with the covers featuring risograph print.
Objectives
The main objective of this course is to learn a range of essential risographic printing and bookbinding techniques through experimentation in digital and manual processes.
Syllabus
Week 1
- Presentation of the graphic production course and of the contents of the course.
- Preparation and experimentation with originals and digital techniques for different printing systems.
- Risography: plots, opacities, gradients, overlays, masks, and patterns.
- Laser: Black and white; colour.
- Sublimation on fabric (bag for final garments).
- Paper: types and experimentation.
- Printing and experimentation.
- Print handling (preparation for bookbinding).
- Paper cutting (paper, cardboard, etc.).
- Types of folds.
Week 2
- Presentation of bookbinding techniques that will be used.
- Bookbinding techniques:
- Spiral.
- Glue.
- Thread.
- (Others: rubber, staples, tweezers, etc.)
- Other techniques

Materials and requisites
- Students must have a portable computer with the Adobe pack installed.
- The course includes the materials required for the risograph printing of three originals (three colours) and paper.
- For bookbinding, the course includes the tool kit and materials.
