Rickard Lindqvist

Expert in dynamic fashion and soft fabrics

Activity and/or professional career

Originally trained in men's tailoring and fashion design, Lindqvist has dedicated himself to both academia and industry. He has worked as a freelance designer for brands like Nudie Jeans, Puma, Salomon and Vivienne Westwood. In 2016 he co-founded the Atacac fashion studio and is currently the creative director of [a] industri, a micro-factory specializing in virtual fashion design.

As head of development, Lindqvist leads research on Langer's lines, which mark tension in the skin and are used in surgery, to understand how the skin expands on bodies in motion, and uses them as a model for flexible designs with dynamic bodies in mind.

Research

In 2015 he presented his doctoral thesis Kinetic Garment Construction, outlining an alternative theoretical model for fashion design.
