Presentation
This workshop introduces the basics of printing by means of screen printing techniques and their variants.
Objective
Competency in the use and handling of specialised screen printing equipment.
Ability to apply designs to photolithographs and create subsequent reproductions using different techniques and media.
Knowledge of the use and running of a printing workshop.
Syllabus
- Materials, techniques and processes to follow for screen printing technique.
- Preparation of the design (graphic, final result, preparation).
- Gradients for designs with photographic images and shadows.
- Developing photolithographs.
- Construction of silk screens.
- Photosensitive emulsions and gels (preparation and application).
- Screen engraving and post-exposure, timing and the drying process.
- Printing with different media, dyes and products.
- Technical experimentation.
Observation
Does not include the cost of recognition as RAC credits. Students of the Bachelor’s Degree in Design from Bau who wish to register this course as RAC credits must submit the request upon the successful completion of the course. The cost of the recognition shall be 25% of the credit at the time of the request.
Note
This course, which is not included in the curriculum of the Bachelor’s Degree in Design, is primarily aimed at students who plan to obtain RAC credits, according to section «7.2.1 Cultural and training activities» of the UVic Academic Regulations.
