Scenography and Narrative Space Design: Storytelling through Space

Sections

Presentation

This course explores how stories can be told through spatial design. We will study the atmosphere of film sets, theatrical scenography, and virtual video game environments, analyzing how they influence the audience's perception of the narrative. The course invites students to rethink space, transforming it into a key element of dramaturgy where the viewer becomes fully immersed.

These sessions focus on scene creation by studying cinematic and theatrical spaces, highlighting spatial configuration and its core elements (color, composition, time, sound, movement, and light). The program includes a theoretical component to review key references and a practical component where students will create their own piece to experiment with the concepts discussed. This allows students to expand their understanding of the "scene" across multiple disciplines and discover new areas of professional interest.

Learning objectives

  • To develop an analytical gaze to understand and analyze scene design.
  • To acquire tools for the visual representation of conceptual scenic proposals.
  • To explore visual techniques for spatial storytelling.
  • To work with diverse elements (sound, light, space, image) to create a solid and coherent project.
