Presentation
BAU's Master’s Degree in Digital Experience Design (UX/UI) is designed for those who want to take the leap into digital product design with a comprehensive, practical and up-to-date vision. Throughout the course, students work on real projects that address specific challenges in the digital environment.
They will apply methodologies such as Design Thinking, Lean UX, Agile and Design Sprints, while becoming familiar with industry tools such as Figma, Miro, Webflow, Notion and generative artificial intelligence solutions like ChatGPT, integrated into the workflows from the very beginning.
This master's degree offers a complete training in digital product design, where researching, designing, validating and building becomes a coherent process that brings together design, business and technology.
Students will learn to think like a Product Designer: to prioritise, make decisions, collaborate with development and present solutions with criteria and strategic vision. The entire teaching team is made up of active professionals, which guarantees teaching that is connected to the reality of the sector.
At the end of the master's degree, students will leave with a professional portfolio and practical experience to look for work in product design, UX, UI or no-code.
Syllabus
Module 1 – UX Research
In this module students will learn to research, interpret and transform real user needs into design opportunities. They will apply qualitative and quantitative techniques to observe, interview, analyse and validate ideas in real contexts.
They will also learn to generate valuable insights and make evidence-based decisions in an iterative process connected to teamwork.
- Introduction to, and the fundamentals of, user research.
- Double diamond.
- Observation.
- Quantitative research.
- Archetypes and selection criteria for qualitative interviews.
- How to interview users, and why.
- Analyse research and communicate findings through storytelling.
- Modelling on persons and customer journey map.
- Identify challenges and value for the user.
- Ideation of actions.
- The prioritisation and refinement of ideas.
- Design Sprint.
- Mentality of continuous experimentation.
- Information architecture and card sorting.
- Criteria to be iterated in innovation (feasibility, viability, and
- desirability)
- Validate with users.
- Theory and preparation of the remote usability test.
- Remote test practice or feedback.
Module 2 – Digital experience design
This module prepares students to design websites and apps that are functional and generate impact. They will start with the fundamentals of visual design and move on to more complex areas, such as design systems, interaction design and information architecture.
Methodologies such as Lean UX will be applied, designing in an agile and collaborative way. Students will explore product psychology and emotional design to create experiences that really connect with people. All of this with tools such as Figma, Miro, Notion and ChatGPT, integrating AI as an active part of their creative process.
By the end of this module, students will have designed a website, an app and a professional portfolio that demonstrates their ability to think and build as a product designer.
- Introduction to digital experience design.
- Wireframes, layout, and responsive design.
- Typography I: Foundations.
- Typography II: Building systems.
- Colour.
- Media: Images, icons, and video.
- Design concept & principles.
- Storytelling & portfolio.
- Evaluation of design concepts.
- Design systems I: Fundamentals.
- Design systems II: Expressive DS.
- Workshop: Figma Mastery.
- Design Patterns.
- Laws of UX.
- Apps I: Product design.
- Apps II: Prototypes.
- Apps III: Interaction design.
- Lean UX.
- Emotional design.
- Product psychology.
- Design is a job: Job search, interview, and technical test.
- Interface design for websites and apps: UI, UX, design systems and prototyping.
- Tools: Figma, Miro, Notion and ChatGPT.
Module 3 – Code & NoCode
In this module students will learn how to materialise the interfaces they design. They will start with HTML and CSS to understand the basics of the frontend, and then explore no-code tools such as Webflow and Lovable to build and publish sites without programming.
They will also experiment with the use of AI in design and development, learning how to speed up tasks, generate interfaces and automate processes. It is not about becoming a programmer, but about gaining autonomy, speaking the language of development and understanding how to build what they want to design.
- Introduction to HTML and CSS.
- Vscode, HTML elements, and inspect from browser (dev tools).
- CSS.
- CSS workshop and layouts - FlexBox and Grid, more about units of measurement
- We go over Flex (pseudo-selectors and responsive).
- We continue with Flex (micro-animations and possibilities). Design asks us for a card.
- Workshop - Home to Flex (responsive).
- NoCode and possibilities.
- Create websites using the tool Webflow.
- Integrating AI into design and development processes.
Module 4 – Digital business
In this module the student will learn to think like a Product Manager: to identify opportunities, prioritise what is important and design solutions that really work for the user and for the business.
Methodologies such as Agile and Lean Startup will be applied, experiments will be launched and MVPs will be built with a focus on results.
In addition, students will be introduced to the fundamentals of the digital ecosystem: from business models to performance, brand strategy and content.
- Agile methodologies applied to product teams.
- Lean Startup and business results-based approach.
- Basic technological principles in digital projects.
- Social media marketing.
- Digital business models.
- Media performance.
- Inbound marketing.
- Brand strategy and content.
Module 5 – Master's Final Project
The Master's Final Project is a central part of the program that allows a student to apply all of the knowledge and skills that they acquire during the program in a specific project, from conception to development and validation.
This module challenges students to work on a comprehensive development project from scratch, applying everything learned over the course of the program. Problems and needs will be identified in a specific context and an in-depth user investigation will be carried out. During this phase, students will produce possible solutions and a digital service or product prototype will be designed. All of the above will be done applying an agile methodology to continuously iterate and improve their solution, until they achieve a satisfactory product.
Students will work in teams, use real tools and present their project in front of a panel of industry professionals. More than an academic exercise, it will be their first challenge as a Product Designer.
