Philosophy

At Bau, the students are educated using various methods based on active teaching. This helps them to fully develop as individuals and prepares them for their future as professionals in the world of design.

In order for students to have a central role in their learning process, active participation is encouraged from the outset. This is because the real meaning of learning is that the students develop themselves as part of their own life project.

The students’ schedule alternates between practical work and training in techniques and theoretical foundations of design. They can thus acquire the knowledge they need, manage research processes, master specific techniques and skills and also generate concepts to provide appropriate responses to the design challenges they are likely to encounter.

Active participation is encouraged from the outset in order for students to have a central role in their learning process

This philosophy is embodied in the school’s culture, which exemplifies how the process of work is just as interesting and enriching as the end result. This encourages teamwork and solution-orientated work styles, stimulates curiosity, and creates situations requiring research. All these are strategies through which the student’s potential is fully developed during the work process. We try to keep our working groups and classes small, which enables us to spend more time on each individual student.

We use our own assessment system, in which teachers and students evaluate the work done. In this system, it is not just the end result that matters, but also aspects such as individual progress, consolidation of general abilities and skills, creativity and attendance.

Our aim is to educate our students to be open-minded, to think independently, to participate, to develop a strong moral and ethical code and to be responsible. We want our students to be culturally rounded - to be interested in the social environment in which they work and to have an active curiosity and desire for knowledge of all aspects of culture, politics and economics.
